‘Local to Henley, Inspirational Women, Experts at Juggling and Willingness to Learn’ were the words used to describe the Henley business women at the Henley Women of Inspiration Networking Event on Friday by Juliet Machan who was the headline speaker.
This was the second annual event for the networking group which was started by Lindsay McLoughlin of Proofed by Linds last year. The event was again hosted at the Remenham Club on the first day of the Henley Women’s Regatta and was attended by over 70 business women from an array of industries.
Juliet Machan talked about how her goal setting and lessons learnt in sport have helped her start and grow her own businesses – Perfectly Picked and Baby Boom Boom. Juliet learnt to row at Grosvenor RC in 1986 and went on to represent GB in the World Championships and won gold in the Lightweight Women’s Pair in 1998. She said, “I learnt from sport that you need to be flexible, a team player, continually look at your performance and how you can improved it, passionate and understand your competition.”
Lindsay McLoughlin said “I am delighted our second event at this prestigious local event was such a success. I would like to thank Miriam Luke and her colleagues at the Henley Women’s Regatta for making us so welcome. It was a privilege to hear world champion rower and award-winning owner of two Henley businesses, Juliet Machan, share her experiences about how philosophies of sport translate into success in the work environment. The Networking Breakfast was attended by around seventy ladies representing businesses from the Henley area, and I look forward to hosting them again in 2016!”
