Gillotts End of Year Awards
At the end of term assembly last week a range of special awards were presented to Gillotts students. Henley Lions presented four Ron Gilbert Awards to Year 11 students; Seamus Bringmann for Food Technology (Cookery), India Burgess and Marucs Bagshaw for Music and Natalie Feark for Exceptional Music Composition (pictured above).
Zodey Sabijan, a Year 7 student was awarded the Will Manson Maths award. Will, an exceptional Mathematician left Gillotts in 2012 and donated an award to the school to given out annually for a student who excels in Maths. Zodey, aged just 12 has reached a Level 8 in Mathmatics already (pictured right).
A group of Year 10 students (below) were presented with their Skillsforce Prince’s Award. SkillForce is a charity that has inspired young people to succeed for over 10 years, working in UK schools using the values of ex-Forces personnel.
Part of the award is to volunteer for an activity in the community to benefit others, Kim Scott, Skillsforce Instructor said, “The students had a great day at the Sue Ryder Hospice at Nettlebed helping out the volunteers in preparation for a forthcoming sale. These students have also passed their National Navigation Award and Young Life Saver Award; both these qualifications go towards their Wider Key skills and Duke of Edinburgh Award.”
