An Evening with Iconic Fabric Designer Kaffe Fassett at Lady Sew and Sew

kaffe-fassettKaffe Fassett will be returning for a one-off special evening at Lady Sew and Sew in Henley on Wednesday 2 December from 7.30pm.  He will be interviewed by Sharon Brant author of the Knitting Bible.

This year, Kaffe Fassett celebrates 50 years in colour and textiles, and 25 years designing fabrics. Love him or hate him, he is an icon in the fabric and knitting industry, and has shaped many of the designs of the current time.

He grew up in a house that once belonged to Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth, and had Henry Miller as a neighbour. And if that wasn’t inspiration enough, his home was attached to a restaurant called the Nepenthe, a hub for dancers, artists, writers and film stars in the ’60s. It would be difficult to grow up surrounded by people like Joan Baez, Jack Kerouac and Steve McQueen and not have a host of stories and memories to tell!

Even at 77 years old, when Kaffe isn’t designing fabrics and quilts, he fashions costumes and stage sets for the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has written more than 30 books, hosted television and radio programmes, and runs workshops and classes for his many followers. Lady Sew and Sew have been fortunate to host many of his workshops, here in Henley Warehouse, and across the UK, including at the Zandra Rhodes Fashion and Textiles Museum, London. Each class springs new ideas and masterpieces from those attending.

This evening interview promises to be fun, and informative, with an insight into how Kaffe creates his flamboyant designs. Sit back and enjoy a glass of wine with Sharon Brant, and someone who has worked closely with Kaffe over many years. Listen, as she asks the questions that we all want to know…(well, some of them anyway…) before opening up the floor to the audience to continue.

An evening not to be missed!
