Gardening Buddies Plant Out Queen’s Birthday Celebration Beds
The Henley in Bloom Gardening Buddies have been busy over the last few weeks weeding and planting up the flower beds and planters around the town.
Last week six of them along with members of the Community Pay Back Scheme planted out the celebration beds at Mill Meadows in front of the putting green with 2,500 red and white geraniums in a flower shape to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Liz Hodgkin, Chair of the Gardening Buddies said, “The hardest part is the marking out of the flower shape. We were hoping to include a blue flower in the design but we couldn’t find one that was right for the position, watering etc. A new board explaining the commemoration and the design will be installed shortly.
