Little Green Fingers after-school gardening club has recently been reformed at Valley Road School with the help of parents, staff and a kind donation of pots, tools and a potting bench from David Eggleton from the Gainsborough Residents’ Association who runs a house clearance business.
The children have already grown a bumper crop of flowers and vegetables which have then been sold to parents at the school. Liz Sheridan who helps run the club said, “The kids love coming and seeing their seeds grow. We’ve put the plants on sale at the front of the school and asked for a donation. People have given very generously and it will hopefully mean that the club will soon be self-funding.”
David said, “It’s great to see the children enjoying gardening, learning about plants and making use of the stuff that may otherwise have been dumped.”
