Henley Under 13s cup run came to an end on Tuesday being convincingly beaten by Broadstairs in the semi-finals of the London and South East regional finals day.
Due to the wet weather for most of the day the semi final semi-final was reduced to 10 overs per side. Broadstairs hit a incredible 118 in their 10 overs thanks to some loose Henley bowling and fielding. Monty Bradbury (33 not out) and Eliot Hyman started brightly for Henley but they were always up against it and got to 74 in reply. Broadstairs were an excellent side and went on to win the final against Brentwood.
Facing Old Albanians in the third place play-off match, Henley would triumph in an 8 wicket win, thanks to some fine bowling from Freddy Loveland (4 for 15), Antonio Perez Quane (2 for 10) and a destructive 30 not out from Will Hammersley combined with another fine knock from Monty saw a comprehensive victory.
Over 1,500 sides enter the national competition and Henley got to the final 16 so it’s been a great effort from the whole squad. A big thank you and congratulations to all the boys who have contributed to our cup run. A special thank you to Luke Taylor for stepping in to play at the last minute on Tuesday.
So that’s it for the Wildcats Under 13s season.
