The glorious spirit of the Rio Olympic Games was re-invoked last Saturday at Henley Golf Club, at the Captains’ Charity Ball.
The Captains’ Charity this year is Sport in Mind, a local charity devoted to helping those with mental health issues to participate fully in society, through their involvement in sport.
The Ball’s theme was the Rio Olympic Games; a sell-out, it was attended by 226 Henley Golf Club members and guests, many of whom sportingly accented their ball dress with bright Rio colours. A memorable meal was provided by Emily Rait in a marquee erected by Lulu’s. Revellers were entertained by Brazilian dancers, and danced until the early hours to the music of live band Million Dollar Bash.
Ladies’ Captain Sally Woolven said “It was a wonderful evening enjoyed by everyone which celebrated the success of our Rio Olympians whilst at the same time raising money for our charity. Thanks to a huge effort by our ball committee, and through the generosity of sponsors and guests purchasing auction items, the ball raised over £10,000 for Sport in Mind.”
