Henley Lions Christmas ‘elves’ helped pack 90 Christmas parcels for individuals and families in our community who are struggling at this time of year.
The parcels contain basic food stuff such as tea, cereals, tinned food plus some Christmas cake and mince pies. Lions members will deliver the parcels to the recipients over the next few days.
This is the 14th consecutive year in which Henley Lions have organised, packed and distributed all of the parcels. Previously, for many years, the Lions were just involved in the packing and delivery parts of the process but the overall project was managed by the Henley Community Services Committee which now no longer exists. The Henley Lions took over whole project so that it could continue on.
David Murray from Henley Lions said, “We’re delighted to take up this very needed Christmas project. The contents of the parcels are funded by benefactors which include both individuals and organisations within the Henley area.”
