1st Henley Friday Scouts entered the District Cooking Competition last Sunday at 1st Cholsey HQ and won Bronze.
Each group of (6-7 scouts) were given a mystery bag of ingredients , including bread , tinned tomatoes, cream, chocolate, sweetcorn , chicken, wraps, carrots and a few extras. There was also a bank of little “Extras” that they all shared to add a little spice to their menu.
The Scouts were all given 15 minutes to plan a two course menu for four people, then 90 minutes to prepare and cook. 1st Henley Friday Scouts’ final menu was Burrito/Fajitas with onion, carrot, sweetcorn, chicken in a tomato and garlic sauce. Their dessert was chocolate dipped fruit, with a chocolate fondant sauce. They were voted the tastiest food!
The team from 1st Henley Friday Scouts were Ailish James, James Dunning, William Lawrence, Elio Dal Lago, Katy Shaw, Monty French and Roman Wilson.
Linda Cookson Leader of 1st Henley Friday Scouts said, “As their section leader I was truly proud of what they had achieved together, oh and it was really lovely too!! It was lovely to watch the co-operation and teamwork with all of the teams there, all totally without the interference from any of the adults who were supervising. It was a great day and more District events are currently in the planning.”
