Badgemore, Trinity and Valley Road Primary Schools gathered together to take part in a performance of the Midsummer’s Night Dream. This play was written by Shakespeare in 1595.
At the start of the session, the people running the performance introduced themselves and started to talk about the story line. They then picked seven children to play different roles in the play.
I was so excited when I was picked to play the part of Hermia because since I knew that we were going to have a chance to perform I wanted to be up on the stage.
In the first session, they taught us about acting, the story and expressing ourselves. I was a little embarrassed at first when I stood up in front of all the schools, but I then I became more confident with the story and acting.
After some time, we had a break which was a lovely play in our forest. Everyone enjoyed that.
After the break, the actors continued the play and it was much more interesting and funny. The king of the fairies, Oberon, wanted to keep the queen of the fairies, Titania’s, little orphan boy as a slave. Oberon put Titania under a spell and made her fall in love with a donkey.
When we reached the end of the play, the actors (including me) took a bow and the audience gave us a big applause.
The whole experience was amazing. It was the best play ever!
