Art, dance, drama, gymnastics and music were all part of the fantastic Gillotts School Showcase this week.
Over 170 students performed who had been rehearsing since January.
Great music was provided by Gillotts Voices who sang the Ping Pong Song, Hallelujah, Video Killed the Radio Star and 9,000 days and the Chamber Group played Bittersweet Symphony and Viva la Vida. Ella Davies did a superb solo performance of Skinny Love.
As always there were brilliant gym and dance group performances and a solo dance performance by Kitty Pilgrim-Morris, a year 11 GCSE student. The tumble sequences from the gifted and talented gymnastic groups were amazing with many of the group belonging to local gym clubs who train between 10-20 hours a week. This group seems to grow in numbers and get better every year.
The drama performances were interspersed throughout the evening with some great comic acts and roles being played.
During the interval, the audience were invited to look at the excellent artworks from project work from Years 7-9 as well as final pieces from Years 10-11 for their Art GCSE.
The final performance was the traditional combined Year 7 and Year 11 students performing an acrobatic and balance routine. As you can see from the photo above you – they really scaled new heights this year!
Miss Rogers, Head of PE said, “I was very proud of all the students this evening. It was great to have all the departments working together and putting on this fab showcase. As always this event also shows off our important school message that we all work together.”
