Henley Symphony Orchestra Summer Concert
Henley Symphony Orchestra’s summer concert ‘Enchanted Land’ is this Sunday 25th June.
The grounds of Shiplake College are open for picnics on the lawn at 5.30pm followed by music in the marquee at 7.00pm. The programme includes Dvorak’s Symphonic Variations, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol and Duka’s Sorcerers Apprentice. The solo work is the Clarinet Concerto by Finzi his best admired work which is melodic and English in feel.
Richard Hosford, one of Britain’s outstanding clarinettists, returns to play as solo with the HSO. In addition to being in demand as soloist and chamber musician he is Principal clarinet of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and founder member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Richard is a professor at the Royal College of Music .
