Looking for a Henley Regatta hat that will stand you out from the crowd? Look no further than Henley’s very own milliner, Liz Felix in her shop on Reading Road. Liz has definitely become THE milliner to wear after making hats for Prime Minster, Theresa May. A hat is a real must have accessory for this world class sporting event.
Liz Felix said, “This season’s hat trends see lots of bright red tomato soup colour, oranges and blues with navy being as popular as ever. The biggest style is the side disk hat. I’ve also been re-trimming lots of boaters and panamas with crew colours.”
“When choosing a hat for the Regatta you need to make sure it fits, it’s comfortable and secure. Positioning on the head is very important too as it can change the whole look if it isn’t quite in the right place. Liz says, “You don’t want to be holding your hat on all day and I offer my clients a fitting service and advice on which hats suit their face shapes and how to wear them.”
Liz makes her beautiful hats and fascinators from scratch in her workshop at the back of the shop at 23 Reading Road using traditional materials and methods. She mainly uses sinamay (a straw like material) which is then soaked and moulded over hat blocks, dried, ironed and stiffened. Liz said, “This fabric is incredibly malleable and holds its colour extremely well and it can be matched to any outfit.”
In Liz’s shop she also stocks off the shelf hats including a couture range of hats from Nigel Rayment she also stocks Olney panama hats and boaters for men (and ladies) too.
