Sacred Heart School were donated a new football kit by Henley Town Football Club this week.
The kit which was sponsored by Henley Self Storage was recently found after a clear out of the kit room at club in Mill Lane.
Mick and Brendan Keane from Henley Town FC came to present the kit after enquiring whether the school could make use of it. Mick said, “After our AGM when we appointed a new committee and new Chair John Hooper we had a proper sort out and came across the kit which we think had been there around 18 months. We asked Darren at Henley Self Storage about it and we agreed that it should be given to a school for their use. Sacred Heart School was chosen as it is red and Henley Self Storage already sponsor other Sacred Heart School sports’ kits.”
Sacred Heart Headteacher, Gez Davies said, “We’re delighted to receive this kit and Mick and Brendan have a great connection with the school too. Mick’s mother, Margaret Kane worked as a dinner lady at the school for many years and one of our outdoor classrooms (behind in the photo above) is named after her. It’s like we’ve come full circle with this family. You can never have enough sports kits – we’ll get so much use out of this.”
Mick has invited the school to come down and use the facilities at Henley Town FC too. Mick said, “We’re looking at building our relationships with schools and the community and we’re meeting with AFC Henley to forge a proper partnership too so that we can start to build our teams with local players coming through them.”
