Symphony Orchestra Plays Concert in Henley’s Twin Town Bled

Henley Symphony Orchestra has just returned from a long weekend in Henley’s latest twin town of Bled in Slovenia. They gave a concert on the Saturday evening of music by British and Slovenian composers in the small town’s fantastic concert hall overlooking the lake. Over fifty members of the orchestra flew out and the large instruments were taken there and back in a big van driven by orchestra members. The concert was part of the Bled International Music Festival with music for all tastes over the period.

The orchestra was welcomed by the Mayor of Bled, Janez Farfar who gave a reception for players and audience after the concert and took them on a tour of the fairy tale castle high up on the cliff on the Sunday. A boat trip on the river in Ljubljana was organised before flying back home.

Jill  said, “It was a wonderful trip for everyone with hot sunshine, warm and friendly welcome, a good concert and a chance for players to get to know one another a little better. A great success, one to be repeated.”
