Dog Bites Runner on Towpath

Steph Maxwell was out for a run on the towpath on Tuesday morning in preparation for running the Henley 10K on Sunday when she was bitten by a dog.

The incident happened at around 9.20am in field on the way to Shiplake just after the Marsh Lock wooden bridge/weir.

Steph said, “I didn’t stick around long enough to take a close look at the dog but a man was walking it and it was a grey coloured whippet/lurcher/greyhound sort of thing who jumped up and grabbed my arm luckily not puncturing the skin but has left a bruise and a red mark and snagged my brand new running leggings! If this was you or know who it may be can I urge you to put the dog on a lead as that could have been a small child whose head was about the same height as my arm.”

Steph wanted to publicise this incident to warn others.  She added, “I was petrified and I won’t be running that route again that’s for sure.”
