A former Henley College student has been crowned the youngest ever winner of Masterchef: The Professionals!
Craig Johnston, aged 21 at the time of filming, has been crowned the winner of BBC Masterchef: The Professionals, the UK’s most prestigious cookery show on Thursday.
Craig achieved NVQ Levels 2 & 3 at The Henley College whilst an Apprentice at Boulters restaurant. His current job is as a sous chef at The Royal Oak, a Michelin-starred gastropub near Maidenhead.
Judges Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace were blown away by Craig’s talent. Commenting on the dessert of Craig’s winning menu, Marcus said “That is just stunning. It’s just perfect. I am speechless.”
Craig told the BBC that despite the win he will still be working on Christmas Day. He said, “It’s a downside to some chef jobs, but you’re going to brighten up someone’s Christmas by making their life easier.”
