Thirty two players from Henley Hawks Under 9s travelled to Norfolk last weekend for the club’s annual Mini and Junior section end of season tour. A day of outdoor adventure activities on the Saturday culminated in some rugby training on the beach at Overstrand, near Cromer, after which some of the braver tourists, with the occasional Dad in tow, ‘refreshed’ themselves in a rather chilly North Sea.
Sunday saw the tourists travel to Holt Rugby Club to play in the Kingswood Mini Festival. The three Henley teams played some excellent rugby, demonstrating how much progress they have all made in their first season of contact rugby. The Henley Eagles team were particularly clinical and ended the day with five wins from their five matches. Both the Kestrels and Falcons teams were justifiably proud of their performances and came away having won two, drawn won and lost two. The tour was the perfect way to celebrate a thoroughly enjoyable season for players, coaches and parents.
