Oxfordshire Libraries has been holding eshort story competitions for the past few years. This year Henley Library was delighted to host the presentation of the prize to one of its regular customers, Louise Brakspear (pictured above) receiving her prize from Lead Librarian Katharine Spackman.
Library members can download her short story “a Passing Place”, a moving tale set in the aftermath of the Great War, from the Oxfordshire Libraries ebook service –www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ebooks.
It was third-time lucky for Louise who has entered the competition twice previously. Writing since her early twenties, winning in 2018 could prove to be a springboard to further success. She said: “I’m absolutely delighted – really thrilled. It’s nice to think that others have enjoyed the story.”
