TV Stars & Bestselling Writers Join Henley Literary Festival Line-Up

Familiar faces from TV will feature alongside bestselling writers and a key figure from British popular music at this year’s Henley Literary Festival. The Festival, supported by Baillie Gifford, takes place at venues across Henley-on-Thames from September 29 to October 7.

My Sister’s Keeper author Jodi Picoult – who has sold over 25 million books in 35 countries – comes to Hurley House for a special post-festival event on October 28, the week her latest novel A Spark of Light is published, as part of a short tour from the US. During the Festival itself Birdsong author Sebastian Faulks returns after a previous sell-out to discuss his much-anticipated new novel Paris Echo. Festival favourite Bryony Gordon has followed bestseller Mad Girl with Eat, Drink, Run which charts her journey from the sofa to running the London Marathon and her headline-making interview with Prince Harry for her mental health podcast Mad World.

BBC world affairs editor John Simpson will make his first appearance at the Festival, discussing his long career and debut novel, as will Rebecca Front, star of The Thick of It and Lewis, with her latest book of comic essays. Kenney Jones will look back on his unique career as drummer for The Small Faces, The Faces and The Who, while two-time Olympic gold medalist rower Alex Gregory will discuss his first book Dadventures. Ctrl Alt Delete podcaster Emma Gannon and Slumflower blogger Chidera Eggerue will join Grazia columnist Daisy Buchanan for a panel event on navigating modern life.

The Festival will feature around 40 events for children of all ages including a pre-school event with What the Ladybird Heard illustrator Lydia Monks and The New Adventures of Mr Toad with Tom Moorhouse.
