After the success of The Children’s Challenge first event in April which saw £45,000 being raised for local charities in the inaugural Exmoor 12k to 21k walk the not-for-profit company is organising a Cross Country Team Relay at The Culden Faw estate on Saturday 7 July.
Founder of The Children’s Challenge, Stephen Lamacraft said, “Our cross-country events are familiar but different. Obstacle courses for children have become common place, but for us they often miss one vital ingredient – team work. This team work manifests itself in cheering on your friends as they use their last drops of energy to complete yet another lap. These events teach children the power of encouragement and motivation. They foster a sense of satisfaction and camaraderie that you just don’t get when running on your own.”
Teams of 1-4 members are invited to select to run either 8km, 12km or 20km in a relay with each lap being approximately 1km on a off road and undulating course.
The cost of the event has been covered by a corporate sponsor. All participants/spectators/families with picnics etc. are free to enter. The only requirement is for each participant to create a JustGiving fundraising page and raise at least £25 for a charity of their choice.
“As with all The Children’s Challenge events, the purpose is for children to have fun whilst raising money for a charity of that team’s choice,” added Stephen.
