Valley Road School Joint Winners in Oxfordshire Swimming Finals

This Wednesday, Valley Road Year 5/6 girls swimming team (Lara Wood, Lucy Herbert, Anjali Shanker, Zarah Beagin and Freya Smith) represented South Oxfordshire in the Oxfordshire Sainsbury’s School games finals, held at Radley College. Over 300 schools had competed and the final 9 were there on the day. Swimming individual races of Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Front Crawl as well as a Medley Relay and Freestyle Relay, were all contested and with a high quality of swimmers across the board, Valley Road swum well.

Teacher Rachel Herbert said, “In the final results, they came out joint winners, beaten into silver medal position only by the amount of 3rd places swims between the teams (joint on points, then joint on first and second place positions). A fantastic result for our girls, of which we are supremely proud!”
