Madeleine Bourne and Ella Davies of Gillotts School were presented with the Henley Lions Club Vivian Morris Music Award on Friday at the end of term assembly.
Maddie and Ella were the Music Captains whilst they were in Year 11. Francis David Head of Music who nominated them said, “They were incredibly helpful in Choir, guiding and leading the younger years and setting a good example to them. They also showed their own wonderful talents through singing a number of duets over the year, most notably starting the whole of our Carol Service at St Mary’s Church in December last year and singing a duet alongside a dance piece in the Gillotts Spectacular. I have chosen them for this award for their commitment to Music over the past two years and for all of the positive and lovely conversations we had!”
Henley Lions, David Murray presented the award certificates and a cheque for £100 each. David said, “The girls can spend the money on what they like but we hope it will be something to further their musical interests. This was the 13th year that we have given the music award to Gillotts students. For 10 years it was the Ronald Gilbert Music Award as it was funded with money left to Lions by Lion Ronald when he passed away. Henley Lions have continued to fund it with money left by one of our founder members, Vivian Morris.”
