Situations Vacant – Food Services Supervisor & Assistant (Waiter/Waitress)

Phyllis Court Club is a lively & busy country house Club on the banks of the River Thames at Henley. We offer first-class dining, accommodation, social & sport facilities for our 3000 members. We are currently seeking the following:


Full Time Position
To maintain the highest levels of service through training and performance management of staff and product and to ensure the complete satisfaction of members and clients within Phyllis Court. To be responsible for the day to day running of the Departments within the guidelines set by management. S/he co-manages the foodservice to oversee and to ensure that the foodservice areas are run to the highest of standards at all times.


  • Initiate and aid training programmes and monitor individual staff development with the Catering Operations Manager, Food Service Supervisors and Club Manager
  • To ensure that staff rotas are completed and costed on a weekly basis
  • Constantly monitor quality and presentation of drinks from the bar and food coming from the kitchen
  • To circulate regularly throughout all Front of House areas, maintaining a high profile with guests and staff
  • To set an example to all staff in terms of standards of work, conduct, attitude and values and be and inspiration to the team, looking after dress code for staff and customers
  • To attend meetings as required and to organise meetings with the staff often as needed
  • Undertake a mentoring and coaching role to support the development of all members of the Food Service team I line with the Core Values


  • The ideal candidate will have excellent Customer Service Skills, and experience in a similar role. They must also be able to interact confidently and positively with management, colleagues, members, and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive and professional approach in line with the Club’s core values
  • A good logical approach to problem solving and the ability to work well under pressure will be advantageous in this role. The candidate should have good time management skills and the ability to multi-task, as well the ability to work using their own initiative.


Full Time Position

To keep and follow the highest levels of service, maintaining standards that have been set. To have a good knowledge of the menu and future promotions. To ensure that all members and guests at Phyllis Court have a pleasurable dining experience.


  • To serve food and drinks in accordance with standards laid out in the departmental Standards of Practice
  • To ensure that cleaning rotas are completed on a weekly basis
  • Attend all briefings before service
  • Ensure that the quality and presentation of drinks collected from the bar and food from the kitchen is being maintained
  • Work in a clean and safe manner and maintain the levels of hygiene and cleanliness
  • To care for all equipment that you work with and report any breakages to a supervisor
  • Ensure all the areas within the department are left clean and tidy after service, to the standards set out in the departmental SOP
  • To deal with any members or guests comments in the appropriate manner and inform your supervisor or duty manager


Must have at least 6 months experience, be welcoming and courteous, an excellent team player but also able to work alone, have good spoken English and good customer service skills. Must work well under pressure, be computer literate. Must have GCSEs or equivalent.
