Sue Ryder is inviting everyone from the local community to join them in celebrating the lives of those who are gone but not forgotten at their Forget-Me-Not Walk on Sunday 16 September 2018. This year the charity hopes to raise £10,000 which could go towards running one of their family support teams for a month, offering practical and emotional support at a difficult time.
Gemma Wise, Sue Ryder Community Fundraising Manager, said: “Due to last year’s success we’re very excited to bring back our sponsored walk. Without our supporters getting involved in fundraising like this we simply wouldn’t be able to help the people who need us, or carry on providing and developing the services that so many depend on. We’re really grateful to everyone who has shown interest so far, and we encourage you to help us spread the word about this wonderful walk.”
Whether you’re looking for a relaxing stroll or a more challenging route, this event has the best of both with a 5K option suitable for children and families, and a 10K route ideal for more confident walkers. Guests can write a dedication for those they would like to remember on a Forget-Me-Not card which will be displayed on a special memory tree. Refreshments await you on your return with a raffle and children’s games.
Sue Ryder is asking all those who sign up this year to go that extra mile. The charity is expanding its services to provide more care for more people via the Sue Ryder South Oxfordshire Palliative Care Hub. They need to raise £2.9m every year to continue providing palliative care in your area. £135 could pay for a nurse for a day, so as an extra incentive all those who reach this amount will receive a free Forget-Me-Not T-shirt. Join together and see how much you can raise!
Registration will be open from 9.30am with the 10K setting off at 10.30am and the 5K at 10.45am to allow plenty of time for breakfast and to soak up the atmosphere. It’s advised to sign up as soon as possible as spaces are limited. Adult: £10; Child: £5; Family: £25.
