St. Mary’s Preparatory School Secures Best Possible Outcome from Inspection

St Mary’s Preparatory School in Henley are delighted to announce that after the Regulatory Compliance Inspectors visited the school they have been awarded with the highest possible achievement available under the inspection framework.

The report which was published by the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate (ISI) in June 2018 outlines that the school complied with the raft of legislation that applies to schools in eight key areas including quality of education provision; welfare, health and safety of pupils; spiritual moral and cultural development of pupils; suitability of staff; premises; provision of information; complaint handling and management.

The inspectors found that St. Mary’s complied with every element and there were no recommendations for the school to do anything differently. Regulatory Compliance inspectors do not reach a judgement about the quality of educational provision or management, and so the report contains no qualitative judgements.

Headmaster Rob Harmer commented: “While the outcome of ‘met’, as outlined in the report may sound fairly unexciting, it is in fact the highest possible achievement under this inspection framework and as such we are of course very pleased with the report findings.A Compliance Inspection does not convey the enthusiasm our innovative and inspiring staff have for teaching, or the joy we see in children’s faces as they exceed their own expectations. Nevertheless, inspections are of course essential in education settings and we welcome the report findings”.

The ISI Inspectors next visit to St. Mary’s is expected in three years when an Educational Quality Inspection will be carried out. This will provide the inspectors with the opportunity to assess the teaching and learning aspects of the school and give a much more detailed description of St. Mary’s.
