In just the first year of popping the bottles of Fairmile Vineyard sparkling wine, the Thames & Chiltern Vineyards Association have awarded their 2015 Rosé sparkling wine a gold medallion, and the 2015 Classic Cuvée a bronze medallion during their 2018 blind-tasting challenge.
The 2018 Wine Challenge was held at Winding Wood with 32 wines from 12 vineyards entered from the Region. The four judges led by Patricia Stefanowicz MW commented that the quality of the wines this year was exceptionally good, as can be seen by the number of gold medals awarded, especially in the sparkling wine class.
The Fairmile Vineyard 2015 Rose was one of nine wines awarded the gold medallion.
Owner of the Fairmile Vineyard Jan Mirkowski said, “We are humbled and delighted to announce that our rosé and classic cuvée sparkling wines won gold and bronze medallions respectively in a regional blind tasting challenge. The tasting was carried out on 2 September by four judges – all wine experts – for Thames & Chilterns Vineyard Association. Anthea and I thank the Association and can’t believe our wines became award-winners within the first month of release! We hope this is a portent for greater achievements to come as the vines mature and produce even better grapes.”
