The Creative Duck, a network for local creatives in and around Henley-on-Thames, is bringing a Pop Up Creative Hub to Market Place in the old Clare Louise Millinery shop from 23 November to 2 December.
Co-founder, Nicola Nott, explains, “We’ve been keen to bring our online shop to the high street for a while and this Pop Up allows us to see what appeals to Henley residents and connect with our community.”
As well as selling a large selection of products, all handcrafted or designed by local people, the Creative Hub will include evening workshops, including loom knitting, festive table styling and growing your brand using Instagram. There will also be a Creative Corner for children and adults alike to drop in and make a festive pompom. “Incorporating events that inform and inspire our community is really important to us” says Sarah Gilbert, Co-Founder. “People’s shopping habits have changed and it’s integral to the future of our high streets that we adapt to these developing trends”.
To encourage local children to roll up their sleeves and get creative, The Creative Duck is running a ‘design the most creative duck’ competition. Children, up to the age of 12, can draw, paint or make a collage of a duck and deliver it to the Pop Up between 23 November and 2 December. Children are encouraged to design theirs within the ‘Creative Corner’ or they can download a duck template from the website www.thecreativeduck.co.uk. Two winners will be selected on 5th December and awarded their masterpiece back framed with a stationery set.
Co-founder Joanna McGinn adds: “Henley is an extremely creative town already boasting renowned festivals, a theatre, cinema, museum and excellent independents. We aim to complement these offerings and hope that, with our shop’s beautiful and unique gifts, we can help residents support small and local this Christmas.”
