Staff at Henley Tesco undertook a mammoth indoor cycle last weekend in aid of Cancer Research UK, British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK. Throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday (7th – 9th December), the team at Tesco cycled the distance from Henley to Lapland as part of their annual Christmas Fundraiser. Their combined efforts raised £363.10 — a brilliant total for the three organisations.
The charitable challenge saw over 200 staff members take their turn on the stationary bike, each spending 30-45 minutes cycling. The bike was positioned by the entrance to the store, along with collection buckets, to capture the attention and support of the customers. The journey, if actually taken, would take about 7 days to complete, but the Tesco team aimed to conquer it in a non-stop 3 day push.
Store Manager Mandy Hoggett explained, “It’s something we do every year around the Christmas period, and it’s fundraising for our charities of the year – Cancer Research, Heart Foundation and Diabetes. We do a whole fundraising weekend, so we’ve chosen to cycle to Lapland throughout the whole weekend. Pretty much the whole shop is cycling.”
Henley Tesco can be very proud of what they achieved this weekend using their collective strength, and even more so, of the amazing funds that they have raised for three worthy charities.
