Phyllis Court Club Chairman Barry Jackson hosted his first Christmas Drinks on Saturday in the Ballroom at the Club.
Barry opened his speech by paying tribute to former Council member Monty Taylor who sadly passed away last week. Monty was a member of the Club for 25 years and 3 years on the Council. He did a huge amount of work on the new tennis courts and the Fitness Centre which opened in September. Barry said, “This year has been a fabulous year for the Club and this is in no small amount due to the support everyone here and all the other members who have given to Council, the management team and all our staff. Regatta this year was the best we’ve ever had not just from the surplus we made but members’ satisfaction. We have used the Riverside Pavilion much more this year as asked and promised at the AGM.”
Former Chairman, Patricia Christmas presented Heather Marsh with a smaller image of her winning photo of a swan which will made into a large framed print and hung on the upper floor of the Riverside Pavilion. Patricia said, “To mark my Chairmanship I wanted to donate something to match the fish downstairs in the pavilion with a bird effect on the upper floor so I decided to run a photography competition with the Photography group. We had 55 excellent entries and 10 finalists. Heather’s winning image is stunning.”
The event made a donation to the Club’s Charity Action Group of £250 which this year will be supporting Carers Bucks, Thames Valley Adventure Play Ground and Riverside Counselling Service.
