Henley Lions Deliver Christmas Food Parcels to the Those in Need

For the 16th consecutive year, Henley Lions paid for and packed up 86 Christmas food parcels for individuals and families in our community who are struggling at this time of year.

The food was ordered from Waitrose and packed by the Henley Lions ‘elves’ on Sunday morning at the YMCA.  Each person/family will receive two bags, each one consisting of a mixture of staples and a few Christmas extras.

Henley Lions took over this Christmas initiative from Henley Community Services Committee (HCSC) sixteen years ago after it folded.  Prior to that the Henley Townswomen’s Guild helped organise it with the HCSC and Henley Lions used to be just involved in the packing and delivering.

Dave Murray from Henley Lions said, “The packing all went like clockwork on Sunday morning and we hope that the parcels bring a bit of Christmas cheer to those in need for the festive holidays.”
