During 2018, Invesco raised an incredible £184,000 for Helen & Douglas House. The money raised will pay for four nurses to look after terminally ill children across Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire, parts of London, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire.
Clare Periton, Chief Executive of Helen & Douglas House and Alexanda Harvey aged 11 who was staying at the hospice, received a cheque from Claire Myers, Charity and Community Support Manager at Invesco on Thursday last week.
Helen & Douglas House was Invesco’s Charity of the Year throughout 2018, during which the company organised over ten fundraising events, including the Thames Challenge triathlon, ‘Waistcoat Wednesday’ and ‘Invesco Island’; a bespoke challenge where 16 Invesco employees camped on a remote Welsh Island for 36 hours, raising a total of £24,000.
Helen & Douglas House also provided donation stations throughout all Invesco’s UK offices, with employees donating approximately 100 bags a week of preloved items to be sold at Helen & Douglas House charity shops across the South East.
Nicola Wilson from Helen & Douglas House said: ‘Invesco has been an incredible organisation to partner with throughout 2018. Nothing has been too much trouble and the teams have got involved with a huge number of activities from bake sales and sporting events through to handling calls for our Radiothon event and a 36-hour survival challenge. We are so grateful for the support they have given us, and this income will make a huge difference to the children and their families we care for. We need to raise £3m every year to carry on the work we do, and it is corporate partnerships like this which go a long way to making that happen.’
