Girls Only Football Sessions Start Tonight

AFC Henley would like to invite girls to their very first ‘Girls Only’ session. These sessions will be starting tonight Tuesday 07 May from 6.00-7.00pm at Jubilee Park, AFC Henley Home Ground (opposite Tesco), and will be coached by FA qualified coaches Samuel Bell and Jack Woodley. They will be adding a female coach to the ranks soon as well. The sessions will run every week in the entire Summer school term. Their goal is to enter at least 1 team for the upcoming 19/20 season and then another 5 come Christmas.

There has been much hype about the FA creating new girls football clubs and teams. AFC Henley are committed to developing football for EVERYONE in Henley-on-Thames and strive to create fun, safe and educational football sessions for all of our participants in the club.

Samuel said, “We as a club have always accepted girls in all of our teams up to U18, unfortunately most of our girls often leave their teams at U12. This makes us sad and question why this is happening. We believe this is because our girls who have previously been with us since U4 at the Mini Soccer Centre have decided they would prefer to play for a girls only team and then leave for another local (ish) club, or quit playing football all together. We hate to see this happen and would like to do our best to amend it.”

If you would like to book for your daughter please book on for the entire term by following this link to our website – – you will receive 2 free sessions this term’s with an online booking.

Alternatively, if you would prefer to ‘pay as you play’ you are more than welcome to pay £6.00 each week you attend.

Samuel added, “Our plan at AFC Henley is to have a female team in every year group up to U18, we appreciate this will take time but we believe there is enough interest in Henley alone to succeed our plans. We need your help in spreading the word, please can you forward this email on to anyone you think may be interested. We cannot achieve this goal without your help and appreciate anything you can do to help us on our way! We are so excited by this opportunity and cannot wait to get started. I look forward to seeing anyone interested at the first session.”
