Bollywood Fundraiser Returns to the Spice Merchant for Chiltern Centre

The Spice Merchant will be once again hosting The Chiltern Centre’s annual Bollywood fundraiser, ‘A Taste of India’ on Thursday 3 October. Now in it’s 5th year, the evening has raised an outstanding £17,700 for the disability charity over the past 4 years.

The night will kick off with a champagne reception before guests sit down to enjoy a 2 course Indian feast courtesy of the fabulous team at the Spice Merchant. Jay Kumar and Dance Asia will entertain with their dynamic and colourful Bollywood dancing. An auction and raffle will help The Chiltern Centre to break through their target of raising £20,000 over the 5 years and the evening will finish with the ever popular interactive dancing led by charismatic Bollywood entertainer, Jay Kumar.

The Chiltern Centre is an independent charity in the heart of Henley-on-Thames that supports young people between the age of 16 and 30 who have learning disabilities, often in addition to physical disabilities and/or complex medical needs. The Centre offers a range of care services that give young people the opportunity to get the most out of life, whilst providing practical support to parents and families caring for a disabled young person. The Centre has to raise £200,000 every year in order to continue to provide these vital services and rely heavily on the support of the local community to achieve this.

Harriet Barcella, community fundraiser for The Chiltern Centre comments, ‘A Taste of India has a special place in my heart as it was my very first fundraiser for the Centre – it has always been a little bit different, full of fun and laughter and of course, importantly a great opportunity to raise vital funds for the Centre. We look forward to another great night in a few weeks and thank the whole team at the Spice Merchant for the amazing support they have shown us over the last five years.’
