56 ladies played in a doubles tennis tournament on seven courts scattered around Henley and Shiplake in support of the NSPCC. This was followed by a lunch at Shiplake Memorial Hall where there were stalls selling tennis clothing and produce and also a raffle. Final matches were held after lunch and the tournament was won by Mandy Claridge and Kim Hartley-Buffham.
A total of £3,200 was raised for the charity. All the money raised will go to the local schools programme “Speak out Stay safe” helping local primary school aged children. More information about this can be found here https://learning.nspcc.org.uk/services/speak-out-stay-safe/
Caroline Thompson said, “We would like to thank the local businesses of Bell Bookshop, Annie Haimes Interiors and Gorvett & Stone for supporting this event.”
The next NSPCC Henley fundraising event is the Christmas Fair at Phyllis Court Club on Tuesday 26 November.
