Camilla Dowse, a local artist has recently completed a commission of Henley cricket pavilion. The original painting will be auctioned at a black tie sporting dinner this Saturday (19 October) at Shiplake College.
50 limited edition prints have also been produced of the painting, these will be sold alongside the original. They are approx 36 x 56cm framed. To enquire about prints please contact: email@example.com.
Camilla was asked to complete the painting by Peter Neville who runs the construction firm Elegant Homes. Peter has been heavily involved with the cricket ground since his son played junior cricket for Henley. The old pavilion was 76 years old and had fallen into disrepair. Peter was asked to build the replacement pavilion, construction started in 2009 and it took just over a year to complete.
Although Camilla normally paints more urban landscapes she was intrigued by the pavilion and completed a couple of small diptych paintings to decide how to tackle the composition of the final painting.
Camilla said, “The building is pretty much brand new, but looks like a Victorian pavilion. Plus the setting is beautiful whichever way you look at it either towards the houses on Remenham Lane or towards the poplars – and that definitely attracted me to it.”
All monies raised from the auction will help fund the club’s projects including a possible new irrigation system.
Former England cricketer Graeme Swann will be the guest speaker at the dinner and tickets are available (£75). For tickets please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
