Another two retail units in Henley will be sadly be empty at the end of this week. Patisserie Valerie closed their doors without notice at the start of this week and Fat Face in Bell Street is closing on Saturday (11 January).
It is understood that the staff turned up on Monday at Patisserie Valerie to find the cafe emptied and closed with a notice on the door which reads, “We regret to inform you that this branch is now closed. Your nearest stores are Windsor, Reading and Bracknell.”
Patisserie Valerie went into administration last January after a discovery of a multi-million-pound hole in its accounts. The company was then saved by Causeway Capital Partners who said they would reinvest in the remaining stores.
A planning application has been submitted for the Fat Face retail unit in December to construct a narrow single-storey rear extension to the shop unit in order to provide better stock-room accommodation for the shop. The current stockroom above the shop will be returned to living accommodation under the Permitted Developments Rights. Perhaps Fat Face will return once the building work is complete?
We asked both companies for a press statement about the closures and to date we haven’t received a reply.
