Lions Donate Cheque to Shiplake Scouts to Help With Fire Damaged Hut

Henley Lions last week presented Ernie Povey and Debs Boughey from 1st Shiplake Scouts a cheque for £500 from the proceeds collected by their Santa’s sleigh in December.

Pam Phillips who presented the cheque with Lions President David Skinner said, “This year Ernie was Santa for 4 of the 8 nights with Debs, his daughter, towing the sleigh. We’d be hard pressed to do the sleigh without them. This year we were unable to take the sleigh to Shiplake due to poor weather otherwise they would have done 5 of the 9 nights. Their scout hut was fire damaged recently and we’re hoping that the donation will help them kit out the reconditioned hut.”

The sleigh raised £4,572 and the money will be donated to local children’s charities.
