Henley Music School (HMS) are lucky enough to boast the very wonderful and highly esteemed violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen as one of their patrons who in partnership with Living Room Live will be streaming a series of children’s concerts starting this Friday (8 May) for 3 weeks.
Principal of HMS, Laura Reineke said, “During this difficult time when we are all stuck at home, and school timetables are being enforced by parents we thought it would be a lovely idea, and of course educational, to stream some wonderful music lessons streamed by Tamsin, her sister and friends.
The concerts will start at 1.30pm and are free to schools and parents, and each concert will explore a different theme. On 8 May, there will be an introduction to the instruments, violin, viola and piano, exploring how we make sound, why we play music, as well as meeting a composer living and working today. The 15 May will be exploring stories in music and 22 May will be dance in music. The concerts will also feature George Fu on piano, Ann Beilby on viola and Freya Waley-Cohen a composer.
The repertoire includes works by Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Handel, Schumann, Debussy, and Waley-Cohen. The concerts will be streamed live each Friday and then will then be available to watch on the website at any time.
Laura added, “We invite questions from children which we will answer in a special video at the end of each week. The concerts are aimed at primary school age.”
