Eat Out to Help Out Scheme Serves Up Good Start in First Week

Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s initiative, Eat Out to Help Out has been really good for restaurants, pubs and cafes who registered for this scheme in Henley which started this week.

Lorraine Hillier, owner of Hot Gossip on Reading Road said, “It was really easy to register for the scheme. A few people weren’t aware of it or didn’t realise it was also for coffee shops. We were really busy – so definitely a successful scheme for us. It was great because families were coming in and everyone was really pleased with the Chancellors generosity. Most were sitting in our garden and fortunately the weather has been good. Definitely A boost for hospitality and the feel good factor we all need right now.”

Nigel Rainbow, Landlord at the Three Horseshoes on the Reading Road added, “We have used Martin at Key Till systems who has been an absolute diamond in our quest to cope with Eat out to Help out. This concept has been absolutely brilliant for our business, increasing trade by 100 % on normally quiet days.”

The Eat Out to Help Out Scheme allows you to get a 50% discount on food or non-alcoholic drinks to eat or drink in (up to a maximum of £10 discount per diner) every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 3 and 31 August as many times as you like. You do not need a voucher to use this scheme and you can use it at the same time as other offers and discounts. There is no minimum spend. All diners in a group of any size can use the discount. You cannot claim discount on alcoholic drinks or service charges.

The discount will be automatically taken off your bill by participating establishments. Establishments will then claim a reimbursement from the government for the discount they’ve given you.
