This year’s Wildlife Photography Competition, ‘Colour in Nature’, organised by the River & Rowing Museum, once again invited local children to help them celebrate our natural world through the medium of photography.
This annual competition encourages budding young photographers to record the wonderful wildlife on our doorstep. This year’s event was not without its challenges of course, but the children of Henley rose to the occasion and brilliantly captured the beauty of our surroundings.
The judges were impressed by the quality and variety of the entries and there was a great deal of discussion when choosing the prize winners. Considerations included how the photograph illustrated the theme of ‘Colour in Nature’, its composition and whether it showed an original perspective.
Helen Cook, Head of Learning at the Museum says “We were thrilled to have so many entries of such a high standard this year. The theme of ‘Colour in Nature’ really inspired Henley’s young photographers and it was wonderful to see how wildlife provided such an important escape in lockdown. Thank you so much to everyone who entered their photographs – we have some very talented budding photographers in our local community!”
The Winners, Runner Ups and Highly Commended have been informed and their winning photographs, along with a selection of other entries are showcased in a stunning display in the Discover! Gallery of the Museum until 1 November 2020. A stunning celebration of nature and life overcoming adversity. For those who didn’t enter and are inspired by this year’s display, the Museum looks forward to seeing your entry next year!
Congratulations to all the Winners, Runner Ups and Highly Commended!
