Arrests Made After Suspicion of Assault

The 10pm curfew for pubs and restaurants now in place due to Covid-19 restrictions has caused a few problems over the last couple of weekends with people leaving restaurants and pubs all at the same time and with some gathering in Market Place continuing to drink.

Thames Valley Police was called to Bell Street at around 10.10pm on Saturday (10/10) after a report of an assault.

The victim, a man in his twenties was punched in the face.

A 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Henley, were arrested on suspicion of affray and assault thereby occasioning actual bodily harm. They have both been released under investigation.

Sainsbury’s had to close their store on Bell Street early on both Friday and Saturday evening to safe guard their store and staff.  A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s said, ” There was an incident outside our Henley local store last weekend and we are supporting the police with their investigation. We regularly review our store opening hours and any updates will be based on a range of factors.”
