Newly formed AFC Henley Ladies have organised a 5-a-side social this Friday (23 October) at Henley Rugby Club.
Louise Colam said, “Now we have more than 45 players who have only been training in development and first team groups, we wanted to find a safe way to allow the ladies to socialise with one another and have some fun! As it is breast cancer awareness month I decided to support this cause to raise awareness and funds for research into breast cancer. There are ladies that train with us who have been directly affected by breast cancer and many others who have friends and relatives affected so it is a cause close to us all.”
Henley Rugby Club have kindly given us their surface from 8pm-10pm for free so that all funds raised will go to the charity and Menza cafe will be open for drinks. Teams will be selected at random so that everyone has a fair chance of winning the trophy!
Louise added, “As it is Wear it Pink day on Friday each of the teams will be encouraged to have some kind of pink item of clothing to get into the spirit of things. Each of the ladies will be donating to play in a team and spectators are allowed to come and support the teams playing and donate too We hope it will be a fun event for everyone and raise lots of money for breast cancer awareness month.”
