Henley Youth Choir are featuring in two BBC Radio Carol Services this Christmas. They were asked to record two Christmas songs to be part of the BBC Radio Berkshire and BBC Radio Oxford Carol services.
Both sections of the Youth Choir chose the song they wanted to sing by democratic vote; the Juniors chose ‘Walking in the Air’ by Howard Blake and the Seniors ‘O Holy Night’ by Adolphe Adam.
Jessica Norton, Musical Director, said, “We are so proud of the youngsters; they have been so enthusiastic this term and put a lot of effort into their recordings. It is wonderful to be part of the services over Christmas time.”
HYC Juniors will be on BBC Berkshire on Christmas Eve at 5.00pm and on Christmas Day at 10.00am. You can listen via this link https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p090873b
In addition, Jessica Norton will be interviewed by BBC Radio Oxford at 08.20am on Christmas Eve and both the Junior and Senior songs will be played before the service at 09.00am https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p090q8ty.
Fi Harding, HYC Manager and Administrator, said, “We were so excited to be asked to take part in the Carol Services. It was lovely to have something to work towards, as we couldn’t perform at our usual Christmas concerts & events this year.”
HYC will continue in January, either with virtual or in-person sessions depending on the Covid-19 restrictions. They take place on Thursdays (5.30-6.15pm for Juniors and 6.15-7.00pm for Seniors). HYC welcome new members and anyone interested in joining should contact Fi.email@example.com. There is also more information on our website www.henleychoralsociety.org.uk/youth-choirs.
