College Launches Girls Elite Rugby Programme

The Henley College is delighted to announce the launch of their Girls Elite Rugby Programme, starting in September 2021 together with the Ealing Trailfinders.

This programme is aimed at aspirational players currently playing at County level, or at centre of excellence groups in year 11 who want to progress on to England Under 18s and Under 20s, and provides the same opportunities as the College’s Boys Elite Rugby Programme, with focus on performance coaching, strength & conditioning, medical support and video analysis.

Joining The Henley College will be the first entry point on an aspirational pathway supporting players to enjoy a first class education whilst also presenting the opportunity to continue on to Brunel University’s rugby performance programme furthering their rugby aspirations and attaining a degree.

Ealing Trailfinders Director of Rugby Ben Ward said:

“We are pleased to announce that we’ve secured long term investment to run a programme for women alongside our successful men’s programme. Our aspiration is to produce home grown Ealing Trailfinders players, both men and women, and give them the best opportunities to become great rugby players as well as prepare them for their careers after rugby.

Our new girls programme at The Henley College will be launching in September 2021 and as part of our investment we will be recruiting a fully professional coaching and backroom team to support the girls in the programme.

With the facilities and infrastructure at Trailfinders Sports Club, Brunel University London and The Henley College we believe we will be able to attract quality players. Further investment will be made into providing world class facilities for our programmes.

Alongside our facilities we will be working hard to attract top quality coaches and backroom staff alongside our holistic staff who will look after education and careers for the players.”

The Henley College has outstanding facilities including a brand new fully equipped gym, and training grounds at the Henley Rugby Club as well as the College’s own pitches which have recently been used by the England Women’s under 20s team.

The College offers a wide range of A levels and vocational courses to study alongside the Elite Programme, to give students the best possible foundation for future success. Accommodation is also on offer for female players who live further afield.
