A colouring competition which started in lockdown last Easter was run again this year on the Gainsborough estate thanks to resident Sally Pearce.
Last year’s theme was dinosaurs but this year Sally chose a more traditional Easter theme with entries including lots of chicks, bunnies and eggs. Our Editor, Michaela Clarke was honoured to be invited to be one of the judges along with Chair of the Gainsborough Residents Association, David Eggleton.
The overall winner was Logan Carter Gregory, aged just 3 1/2 who had coloured in a Easter chick breaking out of an egg. On delivering his prize of a cuddly lamb and a chocolate rabbit, Logan exclaimed “I can’t believe I’ve won! I chose to colour the egg blue as it is my favourite colour.” His Mum, Chloe added, “His brother and sister decided to print out some Easter pictures for him to colour and he chose the Easter chick. It didn’t take him very long. He’s chuffed to have won.”
The other winners were Caitlin, Ivy and Andre, Jamie-Lee and Billie Jean, Allis, Clara and Grace.
David Eggleton said, “I would like to thank Sally for organising the competition. It brings the community together especially what we’re going through at the moment. I’d like to ask Sally to carry on doing the good work. It shows that using your initiative will hopefully get other people involved in doing others events throughout the year.”
Sally added, “Thank you to everyone for entering and hope everyone had a lovely Easter.”
