New Sofas & Stuff Shop Opens With Others Today

With shops allowed to reopen after 3 months, Sofas and Stuff opened the doors of its new Henley showroom in the former Laura Ashley shop this morning.  After a surprise snowy start, the town was busy with shoppers and there were queues at most of the barbers in town.

The Sofas & Stuff showroom offers bespoke furniture pieces using any fabric in the world. They have an extensive fabric library, which features classic house fabrics and signature styles, as well as designer collections.  All the furniture is made in the UK and the delivery time is 7-12 weeks depending on the fabric chosen.  Sofas & Stuff was founded in 2009 with just four employees in Fittleworth, West Sussex, where their flagship store and head office are still based today.   The Henley shop is the 17th showroom in the business to open.

Henley Showroom Manager Nick Ferguson said, “Our CEO and Founder Andrew said he was passionate about Henley and it being ideal for our brand.  He loves the town and it so fitted with everything in our portfolio and it’s good fit for us because of the environment and its heritage.  It matches our brand very well.  We would very much like to get involved in the community and certainly will be looking at some sponsorships.  We’re very much about people.”

Henley Mayor, Councillor Ken Arlett officially opened the shop saying, “With the recent passing of His Royal Highness the Prince of Edinburgh as a man that never wanted a fuss, I am sure he would not have wanted the official opening to drag out any longer.

“The news that Henley has been ranked the 2nd Best Performing Shopping Location out of 1000 retail centres, by consultants Harper Dennis Hobbs In February, has given the town’s retail a really big boost. Sofas & Stuff have a long tradition of high standing workmanship, and looking at the quality of items on sale, would suggest Henley is an excellent destination, for one of two new shops that the company are opening today.  My record of opening new shops is very successful, the first one I opened when I was Mayor in 1991, Asquiths Teddy Bear shop is still open today!! On behalf of the Town Council, we wish you all the success that may come your way in the future, and it is my pleasure to have the opportunity to cut the ribbon that officially opens the store today.”
