Town & Community Manager Resigns From Council

Helen Barnett (pictured centre), Henley’s Town & Community Manager has left Henley Town Council this week after nearly 5 years.

Helen joined the Council in 2016 after leaving her role as Head of Communications & Marketing at Bracknell Regeneration Partnership.  She has taken a new job as Marketing Manager in the property industry.

Helen said, “I have loved working in Henley with all of the retailers and businesses. I have been overwhelmed by the nice things that people have said and their good wishes. We have all worked together to improve the town.  It has been challenging during Covid but the markets have gone from strength to strength and the vacancy rate has remained low. I would continue to urge everyone to shop local and support the retailers in your town.  The team at the town hall have been amazing and I will miss everyone.”

Sheridan Jacklin-Edward, Town Clerk commented, “Helen Barnett, our Town Centre Manager, will be leaving Henley Town Council after almost five years. Helen has been a tremendous asset to the town.  During her tenure, Henley has flourished. She has brought skill, inventiveness, and flair to her role. She has fostered fantastic relationships with local businesses and has led on memorable events including our wonderful Christmas Festival. During the pandemic, Helen worked tirelessly to support local businesses shopkeepers and traders. I would also like to thank Helen’s talented team, especially Nicci Taylor, Markets and Events Manager, who provided cover in her stead recently.  We will be recruiting for a new Town & Community Manager shortly.”

Mayor of Henley on Thames, Councillor Sarah Miller added, “On behalf of the people of Henley, I would like to thank Helen and to congratulate her for all she has achieved here. Henley is a wonderful place to live and work, and Helen’s efforts, particularly during the pandemic, have ensured that Henley continues to go from strength to strength.”
