First Two Gold Awards for 1st Henley Brownies

Amelia Jones and Eloise Askin were the first Brownies to be awarded Gold badges in 1st Henley-on-Thames Brownies.

Girlguiding UK introduced the new programme in 2019 which has 6 themes and sees the girls having to achieve a series of skills builders, interest badges and activities from each of the themes which include Skills for the Future, Take Action and Have Adventures.

Amelia achieved 7 interest badges including the first Archaeology badge for the pack too and Eloise’s attained 6 interest badges including unusual badges, Aviation and Local History.

The girls were presented with two Gold badges (one pin and one cloth) and a special certificate last week.

Pack Leader, Michaela Clarke said, “It was a really proud moment to present Amelia and Eloise with our first awards, particularly after the year we have just had.  We managed to complete some of the activities needed over Zoom with a little bit of adaptation.  We finished the term with a fun sports day and party for the girls and invited parents to come and watch the presentation which included a special cake with a gold badge on top.”

Eloise said, “My Brownie experience was amazing.  I loved making new friends and having a fun time.”  Amelia added, “I enjoyed every minute of Brownies, making new friends and earning new badges.”

Freya Wetherston was also awarded her Silver Award this term and was just a few activities and badges short of Gold too.
