Invesco has announced its annual Charity Challenge 2021 in aid of Charity of the Year, CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).
After a successful virtual triathlon in 2020 which raised over £25,000, the triathlon format returns on Friday 24 September with employees being reunited in person for the one-day event to travel 90km from the firm’s EMEA Head Office in Henley-on-Thames, to its London office in Portman Square. Competitors will canoe along the Thames, cycle 69km and complete the remainder of the journey on foot.
Each participant will have a fundraising target of £350 and the Invesco Cares Foundation has pledged to match the amount raised. Claire Myers, Charity & Community Support Manager at Invesco said, “We’re are so pleased to be able to organise an event in person this year, it will be wonderful to see the return of the comradery amongst the competitors on what is always an amazing day of personal challenges. After last year’s record-breaking grand total for the year nearing £225,000 for CALM we hope to raise even more money for the charity which is quite literally saving lives in these difficult times.”
The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK and the cause of 18 deaths every day. The charity operates a free confidential helpline and webchat, as well as supporting families and continuing to spread awareness in communities. In 2020 CALM answered 144,000 calls and chats and prevented 556 suicides.
